I don't think you would. I have Windows XP. And I have Windows Media Player, Real Player, and JAWS 5.0 on my computer also.

Jaws 5.0 works well with XP, no problem.
the main problems I can see is that if some of your hardware is old then you might have some issues unless you can get the xp versions of the hardware, although there is something called the compativility wizard which can make things run as if in 98. though you have to tell it to do so for each file you run.
You will have to consider that JAWS standard edition will not work with Windows XP Pro. Only the professional versions of JAWS will work with the Professional versions of windows XP. The professional and standard versions of JAWS will work with Windows XP home edition. Also you will want to make sure that your computer is XP compatible. By that I mean that it meets all of XP's minimal hardware requirements and that the bios supports xp, ect. Hope this helps. -- JG
Also, another thing, if you try to use jfw 5 on windows 98, be where of blue screen mania! at least that's what happened to me. I'd go to start it manually and I'd get a blue screen. it started ottomatically just fine. Also, for peeps using k 1000 ver 7.0-7.02, in windows xp, you will need to set the compatibility for windows 98 because if you don't, it'll hang on you at start up. I found out about both of these things, the hard way... *sighs*... Now I'm running windows xp, and both progs are working fine.
I've noticed upgrades tend to cause problems. not all the time, but my general philosophy is, if it's not broke, don't fix it.
After reading my previous post; I feel like I should add something about JAWS. The JAWS program will work with any flavor of Windows XP. The difference between the professional and standard edition is not the software, but the way the software is authorized to run. Both JAWS 5.0 Standard and professional editions still use the floppy as far as I know, but the authorization disks for the professional and standard editions are going to be different. If you are running JAWS 5.0 standard (and most likely you are since you are using Windows 98), then you will need Windows XP Home. If you want to run a copy of Windows XP Professional, then you are going to have to make sure that your authorization disk will authorize JAWS for that operating system. HTH -- JG
